Visitors can bring any amount as there is no currency declaration required. Foreign currency can be exchanged at any branch of the commercial banks or through a BUREAUX – de – CHANGE. Travellers cheques can be exchanged in most banks in the main City such as Dar es salaam. Please ask what commission and charges will be deducted prior to transaction.
Banks are usually open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, Mondays to Fridays and some of the banks open 10.00 am and 12.00 am on Saturdays.
Vaccination
We advise you to get more information from your own doctor or health travel clinic before travel. You must take anti-malaria prophylactics at least 1 week before departure and 2 weeks after returning home. Anti-tetanus and anti-typhoid booster jabs are advisable. Yellow fever vaccination is no longer required
You can bring insect repellent and "sting relief" from your nearest chemist - good if bitten. To avoid sun burn we recommend you to get a Sun cream of a high factor.
Visa
All visitors will need a visa, this can be obtained from any Tanzanian diplomatic mission or consulate abroad, at any main entry point (international airport, seaport and boarder post) into Tanzania.
Credit Cards
You can use VISA, MASTERCARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS cards on some of the banks cash machines and few hotels.
Communication
Keeping in touch by mail and telephone is generally easy. Direct overseas dialling is possible from major centers and increasingly from remote places such as game lodges. You can get telephone card from Tanzania Telecommunication Communication Limited (TTCL) offices, futhermore there are Cyber café for e-mail and Internet access.
Security
We advise any visitors not to leave cash and valuables in their hotel rooms but to make use of safe deposit boxes and safes. You should never carry large amounts of cash and women should keep a tight grip of handbags in crowds or busy streets. Jewellery snatching is quite common in city streets. As in all major cities walking alone at night should be considered a hazard and avoided. Reliable taxis are available at all hotels.
Language
The National Language is Swahili. However, English is widely spoken. In aditional most tribes have their own language.
Climate
Tanzania's climate and topography favours tourists in general. A general pattern of tropical sunshine, ocean breezes and puff up cumulus clouds prevails. There are two rainy seasons, long rains from March to May and short rains from October to November.

Drinking Water
We do not recommends you to drink water from the tap . Bottled mineral water is available in every hotel and supermarket.
Electricity
Majority of the hotels and some game lodges provide shaving points . Sockets are normally three pin and of the 'square' variety.
Tipping And Potterage
Although hotels and lodges include a service charge, it is customary to tip porters, waiters, taxi drivers and safari drivers/guides.
