At 240 square km Rubondo Insland National Park is Tanzania's tenth national park combines the breathtaking natural beauty of a forest refuge with the relaxing tranquility of sandy lakeshore beaches.
Rubondo is tucked away in the South western corner of Lake Victoria which is the worlds second largest lake. Rubondo provided an unforgettable experience for visitors. The island boasts a unique diversity of flora and fauna. Visitors can be sure to the sitatunga, and other mammals frequently seen include hippo, otters, bushbuck, vervet monkeys. Rarer sightings are suni antelope and elephant. Rubondo is a birdwatchers paradise, home to nearly 400 species and the highest density of fish eagles in the world.
Tasty tilapia form the staple diet of the yellow-spotted otters that frolic in the island's rocky coves, while rapacious Nile perch, some weighing more than 100kg, tempt recreational game fishermen seeking world record catches.
Rubondo is more than a water wonderland. Deserted sandy beaches nestle against a cloak of virgin forest, where dappled bushbuck move fleet yet silent through a maze of tamarinds, wild palms, and sycamore figs strung with a cage of trailing taproots.

It is surrounded by islets and unlike other parks cars are prohibited on the island so all game-viewing is done on foot or from a boat.
