Our professional Guides, Assistant Guides and Porters are there to serve you and make sure that you have a memorable trek. This dedicated team is trained and certified by the Kilimanjaro National Park Association and the Guides/ Assistants have been trained at Mweka College of African Wildlife Management.

Our Chefs can cater local and international dishes (see typical menu). Scenery Safaris is dedicated supporters of Kilimanjaro Porters Association. Therefore our porters  have access to free trekking equipment at the porters association.
The team is also trained in first aid and rescuing skills on the mountain.
 

SCENERY SAFARIS WILL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING AT NO EXTRA CHARGE :

  • GOOD SLEEPING TENTS (recommended for Kili treks)
  • GOOD MESS TENTS (to ensure warmth and comfort during dinners)
  • SLEEPING MATS
  • CAMPING EQUIPMENT (tables, chairs, lamps)
  • OTHER GEAR IS AVAILABLE FOR RENT.
 

RECOMMENDED TREKKING EQUIPMENT LIST

  • 1 pair of mountain/climbing boots (already worn in) with quite rigid soles and/or sides.
  • 1 pair of trainers for the lower slopes and drier tracks and for the evenings after trekking
  • 1 smaller rucksack for your personal things (e.g. camera; sun creams; lip salve; wallet; purse; water bottle)
  • 1 waterproof duffle bag for the porters to carry your gear
  • 1 good mountain sleeping bag ( - 5 to – 20 degrees celcius)
  • 1 sleeping mat (we provide foam mats at no extra cost)
  • 1 good warm waterproof mountain jacket
  • 3 wool or polypropylene sweaters (wearing in layers is better than one thick one).
  • 1 pair of waterproof mountain trousers
  • 1 pair of cotton trekking trousers (adventure khaki wear)
  • 1 pair of cotton shorts (for the 1 st day/ returning day)
  • 1 pair of warm, water proof mountain gloves
  • 2 pairs of underwear
  • 1 pair of thermals
  • 2/3 tee-shirts and wool shirts
  • 2/3 pairs of woolen socks - not too thick
  • 1 sun hat
  • 1 high factor sun cream or block
  • 1 balaclava/woolly hat
  • 1 pair of sunglasses with side panels
  • 1/2 telescopic walking poles (recommended especially for the descent!)
  • 1 pair of gaiters
  • 1 headlamp with extra batteries
  • 1 good torch
  • 1 water bottle of capacity at least one litre
  • 1 set of lightweight toiletries
 
NOTE: Maximum weight allowed for each porter to carry is 15kg. Extra porters will be charged extra. Please pack only the necessary items for the trek, and we recommend your main luggage to be 10 kg.
